Principal's Welcome
Welcome to McKinney ISD Discipline Centers. We serve students who have experienced behavioral and/or legal issues while enrolled at their home campus.
We take our role seriously in educating our students. It is our goal to challenge each student appropriately while working on behavioral issues through counseling and social skills training. Our goal is to return students to their home campus better academically, behaviorally, and emotionally than when they arrived on our campus.
I understand that parents are concerned about the safety of their child while attending our schools. I assure you that student safety is our first priority. Our DAEP campus is fortunate to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) full time as well as a full time Assistant Principal.
McKinney ISD works cooperatively with Collin County Juvenile Services in an effort to provide educational services to students who have been expelled from school or who are experiencing legal issues. Our JJAEP and CRC campuses are provided with Collin County Officers highly skilled and specifically trained to serve our students. These campuses are extremely safe.
Students placed at one of our campuses will be treated with dignity and respect and will be expected to follow strict guidelines in a positive, nurturing atmosphere. Our teachers are all highly qualified in the core subjects and have extensive experience in dealing with students who may not be intrinsically motivated to achieve at high levels. I am very proud of our teachers and will be posting samples of them in action with our students so that you may see for yourself the level of engagement and rigorous activities our students experience.
Our goal is to provide a safe, caring environment in which students identify and correct behaviors that have been destructive to them and to equip them with coping skills and de-escalation techniques that will enable them to more appropriately handle difficult issues.
Thank you for visiting our site. We will do our best with each student who comes to us to provide positive services and growth experiences that will help prevent a return to one of our campuses. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to e-mail me or one of our teachers.
Sincerely,
Cynthia Morton
